Your in great hands with this outfitter! They have been chartering boats for over 30 years and have experienced every type of water condition and weather pattern in the area. The Chandeleur Islands are particularly challenging for fishing because they change with every season and with every large weather front. But this outfitter has run Chandeleur fishing trips since 1998 and nothing beats first hand experience!

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time of the year to take this trip?
We suggest to most people that it is best to wait until after Easter as the cold fronts seem to slow down a bit after that. The trout are usually larger in the spring - early summer and smaller and more numerous in the summer - fall. Redfish are always there.

Best to pick a date when there is good tide movement also. For help monitoring tides and finding a date use this Tide Prediction Tool.

Are rods, reels and tackle provided?
No, you may bring your own equipment or rent rods, reels and tackle for $75 per person for the entire trip.

Do the skiffs have polling platforms?
No

Are alcoholic beverages allowed?
Yes, but they are not provided. You will be responsible for bringing your own alcoholic beverages.

Reminder: No glass containers – Bring beverages of your choice in CANs only.

Location

The Chandeleur Islands are a chain of uninhabited barrier islands located 50 miles east of New Orleans and 35 miles south of Gulfport, Mississippi in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Islands are prolific environments where hundreds of species of finfish, crustaceans and wildlife flourish. The heavily vegetated interiors of the fragmented islands are sanctuaries where juvenile fish, crabs and shrimp can find protective cover increasing their chance of survival. For this reason, the Islands offer some of the best coastal fishing for redfish and speckled trout. As you depart the Mothership each morning, you and your group will load up in six skiffs to venture out into God's country. These skiffs are 15-feet long and come with 20 or 25-hp four stroke engines.
