Bonefish are elusive and highly prized saltwater flats game fish found in tropical waters from Hawaii to the Bahamas. Their scientific name (Albula vulpes) is translated white fox, an apt name considering how stealthy and skittish these predatory fish can be.
Found primarily in the grass flats and shallow mangroves of Florida, the Bahamas, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, bonefish are typically small (between five and 10 pounds), but don't let their size fool you. If you do manage to hook one of these silver torpedoes, get ready for a screaming drag and the fight of your life.
